Pearce Grip is awarded U.S. Patent

Patent awarded for the new Government Model 1911 "Modular Grip™ "

April 22, 1997 -- The Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks granted Pearce Grip Inc. Patent Number 5621997. The Grip design allows the user to add rubber front finger grooves to the pistol while retaining the use of their factory original or any other custom or specialty side panel grips. The finger groove unit is installed by placing the thin rubber side members over the grip screw bushings and then placing the panel grips on top thus firmly holding the rubber finger groove in place. These thin rubber side members provide a cushion of rubber under the panels but do not appreciably change the over-all thickness of the grip. The modular concept was first applied to the Government Model 1911 pattern pistols but other handgun models will soon be available.
